RESONANCE is a duo exhibition in which visual artists Leonie van der Helm and Annet Neijmeijer bring together their lens-based works in a carefully curated way. Although their artistic practices differ in focus and material approach, both artists explore the relationship between the visible and the hidden.

The exhibition creates an interplay between past and present, between the two artists, and among the works themselves. Through these encounters, new connections and meanings emerge.

Both Leonie and Annet draw from personal experiences that continue to shape the way they perceive the world. The past remains present within the body, influencing perception and the ways in which they navigate their lives.

At the heart of their shared inquiry lies a parallel between architectural space and the human body: the walls of a room and the skin of a body both function as membranes that protect while simultaneously concealing. They contain the experiences, memories, and tensions that shape who we are.

In this exhibition, two worlds meet. A dialogue unfolds in which the works resonate with one another, questioning, reinforcing, and transforming each other. Together, they reveal the different ways in which we relate to the histories we carry within us.
